Staff threatened during robbery of store in Newtownards

Detectives in Newtownards are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery at a convenience store in the town on Wednesday evening.

The incident occurred in East Street just after 7.30pm when two men, one armed with a knife, threatened staff before making off with the contents of the till.

As they made their getaway on a motorcycle which had it’s number plates blacked out and no lights, the bike collided with a car. It then sped off in the direction of the Donaghadee Road.

Earlier Police received a report of a motorcycle without lights being driven around the Glen estate in Newtownards and they are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen this bike or who may have witnessed the robbery.

Man Pleads Guilty To Number Of Sexual Offences Against Children
A 31-year-old man who travelled to Belfast to meet what he thought was a 13-year-old girl, has pleaded guilty to a number of sexual abuse offences against children. Anil Patel pled guilty to attempted sexual communication with a child, arranging the commission of a child sex offence and possessing extreme pornography of children.

Appeal Issued After Spate Of Robberies In Coleraine
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information following a number of report of thefts in the Coleraine area. Police received a report that overnight on Friday, 24 February, someone had gained to a property in the Knockaduff Road area, taking away a scrambler motorbike and helmets.
