easyJet announce three new Belfast services

Low cost airline easyJet has announced three new air routes from Belfast International Airport.

The new services to commence in July will see daily flights to Inverness, and four flights a week to Geneva and Palma.

Enterprise Minister, Barry Gardiner said both business and tourism in Northern Ireland would benefit from the new routes, especially to Geneva.

“Geneva is a key economic centre, home to the World Trade Organisation and over 100 multi-national corporations, including some of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies,” the Minister said. ”This makes it a highly attractive destination for local businesses wishing to explore export and partnership opportunities in a key European marketplace.

“The new route is also good news for the tourism sector, providing exciting opportunities for attracting inbound tourism from central Europe.”

Easyjet Chief Executive Ray Webster added: "Following the success of our direct services to Spain and France, Easyjet is delighted to be adding Geneva, Inverness and Palma to our network.

"Easyjet views Belfast as a vibrant and highly attractive market with great potential and we look forward to announcing more new routes to main city destination airports in the near future."

Belfast International Airport has received assistance for the new Geneva route from Invest NI subsidiary company Air Route Development (NI).
