Man dies following flat fire
The man who was treated in hospital for severe burns following a fire at a flat in Co Down yesterday has died.
The 61-year-old man, who has not yet been named, was taken to hospital after being rescued from the burning flat at Hillfoot Crescent, Ballynahinch in the early hours of Tuesday morning however he died in hospital later that same afternoon.
Three people are assisting police with their enquiries.
Detectives in Downpatrick are appealing for anyone who was in the area late on Monday night or the early hours of Tuesday to contact them. They are particularly keen to hear from anyone who attended a house party in Hillfoot Crescent.
A spokesperson for the fire service said the cause of the fire, which was relatively small, was being investigated.

Swann To Prioritise Settling Health Worker Pay Disputes
Newly appointed Health Minister, Robin Swann, has said that he will prioritise securing pay settlements for staff and resolve current industrial action. Mr Swann said: "That is my immediate priority and I want to see pay negotiations being initiated without delay, consequently I have written to the trade unions inviting them to early discussions.

Yellow Weather Warning Issued For Parts Of NI
A yellow weather warning for wind has been issued by the Met Office for parts of Northern Ireland on Wednesday, 31 January. The weather warning comes into effect at 9.00 am and is due to remain in place until 5.00 pm with warnings that it could impact travel, cause power outages and lead to large waves in coastal areas.

Man treated in hospital following flat fire
A man has been treated in hospital for smoke inhalation after being rescued from a fire at his flat in west Belfast. The fire is believed to have started at the flat on the Suffolk Road when a toilet roll, soaked in flammable liquid, was pushed through the letterbox.

ASSEMBLY CREATE AWARD TO HONOUR FIRE SERVICE
THE Northern Ireland Fire Service is to receive the first ever award given by the province's devolved assembly. An illuminated scroll is to be presented to Chief Fire Officer John McClelland on Tuesday, by assembly speaker Lord Alderdice in tribute to the sacrifice made by fire fighters over the years.
