Man due in court following shooting

A man is due in court charge with attempted murder after a number of shots were fired at a house in Co Armagh yesterday morning.

A family of three escaped injury after shots were fired at the property in the West Acres estate, Craigavon at around 3am on Thursday.

A couple and their daughter were upstairs in the house when the shots smashed the kitchen window while further shots were allegedly fired at the father when he opened the front door of the house to investigate.

Elsewhere, police believe an assault on a 31-year-old man in Londonderry early on Friday may have been a homophobic attack.

The victim was walking between Duke Street and Spencer Road in the early hours of Friday morning when he was punched from behind by two teenagers,

The attackers, who are thought to be aged 16 and 18, then made off with the man's silver necklace.
