Allied Bakeries and NIHE come out on top in quality awards
Allied Bakeries and the Northern Ireland Housing Executive have won the top awards for excellence at last nights Centre for Competitiveness gala dinner.
The organisations were among 19 receiving awards at the event, organised by the Centre for Competitiveness sponsored by Invest Northern Ireland, BT NI, OFMDFM, FG Wilson and Viridian. The awards recognise public and private sector organisations that have demonstrated excellence in their business performance.
Congratulating the winners, Bruce Robinson, Permanent Secretary at the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment, said: “Companies which show a commitment to building capability and achieving excellence through continuous improvement consistently outperform others in terms of growth and competitiveness.
“Quality is central to achieving the ambition of the draft Economic Vision to make Northern Ireland a highly skilled, innovative and enterprising economy. Local companies must continue to focus on producing high quality products and services to compete successfully in the global economy.”
The NI Quality awards recognise organisations at various stages of the Journey to Excellence scheme, from the starting point of being committed to excellence through to the quality award.

NI Company Bags UK Shopfitting Award
A Carrickfergus fit-out company has become the first firm to retain a prestigious UK interiors award. McCue Fit-Out defended its 'Shopfitting Excellence' crown at the Retail Week Interiors Awards for its work on a major Urban Outfitters store in Cardiff. Last year it secured the title for the completion of the chic retailer’s Liverpool location.

RTÉ Wins Technolgy Accolade
The Irish Republic's state broadcaster, RTÉ and Digital Reach Group (DRG) have picked up a prestigious award for Mobile Technology Project of the Year at the ICT Excellence Awards, which were held in the Royal Marine Hotel in Dun Laoghaire this week.

Mivan Wins Community Excellence Awards
Specialist contractor Mivan has won the Randox Business Award at the seventh annual Antrim Community Excellence Awards. It was presented to Simon Harland, Corporate Services Director and Ingrid Napier, Factory Administration Manager, by the Mayor of Antrim, Pam Lewis.
