Family escape injury in arson attack

Police have appealed for witnesses following an arson attack at a house in Co Tyrone early this morning.

The incident at around 1am, saw a refuse bin which had been pushed against the door of the house in Lismore Park, Sion Mills, set alight. The blazing bin caused minor damage to the property.

A woman and her four children, who were in the house at the time of the attack, were able to escape after neighbours managed to put the fire out and pull the bin away from the door.

The Fire Service praised those who dealt with the fire saying that if they had not have done so “you would be talking about severe consequences without a doubt”.
