Two arrests made in hotel attack investigation

A further two people have been arrested by police in connection with a petrol bomb attack on a Belfast hotel on Wednesday.

Earlier on Thursday a man who was being questioned by detectives in connection with the attack on Days Hotel in the Sandy Row area of south Belfast was released pending police reports.

Five devices are thought to have been thrown at the Hotel shortly before 4am on Wednesday.

Damage was caused to the front and side of the hotel, but no one was injured in the attack. The fire was confined to a basement wall cavity, but subsequent smoke did cause problems on the second, third, fourth and fifth floors.

Police said a motive had not yet been established, but the owner of the hotel, Lord Rana, said he did not believe loyalist paramilitaries were involved.

Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives on 028 9065 0222 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
