Police examine road signs hit by gunfire
Police are examining road signs which have been hit by gunfire in an area close to where five-year-old Darragh Somers was shot in the head last month.
Detectives are also studying a possible bullet strike on a house 200 yards from Mullinaskea Primary School where Darragh was shot on April 22, however no link has been made between either incident.
A police spokesman said it had not yet been confirmed if damage to the road signs was caused by a bullet from a .22 rifle, the type which seriously injured the young boy.
Earlier this week, Gerald Somers said he was “delighted” with the progress his son had shown since last month’s shooting incident.
Speaking on Monday, Mr Somers said: “I'm here today to see if I can get across the message to anyone out there who has any information whatsoever, may it be small, insignificant, or whatever, to come forward."
Police said they believed last month’s incident was an accident and that Darragh was hit by someone shooting in nearby fields.
