PSNI police patrols to be reviewed
The PSNI and Northern Ireland Policing Board have started a Review of how police officers patrol the province’s streets.
The Best Value Review will assess public expectations, visibility, tasking of patrolling and patrol strategy and also consider how the police carry out the patrol function compared with other police services.
Although the review is in its infancy meetings are already being planned with a number of groups representing the community, hard to reach groups, voluntary and statutory agencies.
The Review Team said it was also inviting individuals or groups who have not yet been contacted directly to give their views on police patrolling.
The team said it would be particularly interested to know if the public are satisfied with the current levels of police patrolling in their local areas and are inviting members of the public to contact the Review Team with their suggested improvements.
Submissions can be made in writing to Inspection & Review c/o Corporate Development, PSNI HQ, 65 Knock Road, BT5 6LE.
