Lottery boost for community and voluntary groups across NI
Eleven projects across Northern Ireland are to share over £1 million from the National Lottery Good Cause Distributor under its Voluntary and Community Sector programme.
Among the organisations being funded is a project helping young people from Belfast’s Chinese community express their culture as well as a vital scheme offering counselling to survivors of sex abuse.
Project manager Paula Hanratty said: “It is vitally important that all survivors of sex abuse and rape have access to counselling. We know that people have experienced difficulties accessing our services in the past because of transport so we are delighted that we can now make them more accessible.
Breidge Gadd, Big Lottery Fund NI Board Member said: “We are proud to be able to support these organisations in their vital work in Northern Ireland. The Big Lottery Fund delivers grants that make a difference to the most disadvantaged in our society. These awards are an example of just how important lottery funding is to local people.”
