Powershield embarks on re-investment programme

Lisburn-based company Powershield has embarked upon a significant re-investment programme with the help of Invest Northern Ireland.

The investment project includes the extension of the company’s existing site to allow for increased production capacity, the purchase of new automated equipment, an updated IT system, the recruitment of specialist staff over a three year period and an increased emphasis on marketing.

It is anticipated that these business improvements will lead to a 76% growth in sales by March 2007. The project will also help the company expand into new and more profitable markets within GB and the Middle East.

A leading manufacturer of specialist steel doors and windows Powershield plans to focus on increased research and development to create new and innovative products for its growing client base.

Commenting on the investment programme Dr Graham Crymble, Managing Director of Powershield, said: “We are currently at a highly important stage of our growth and this investment will allow us to continue to evolve. By extending our factory and investing in new machinery we will be able to satisfy our current clients whilst simultaneously attracting new overseas customers. By developing new products and improving the quality of our existing range we will also ensure our status as a leading supplier of steel doors and windows across the UK.”

Invest NI has offered the company, which recently received an award in the International Trade Section of the prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise, a combination of advice, guidance and financial support towards implementation of the project.

Leslie Morrison, Chief Executive of Invest Northern Ireland, said: “This expansion represents an important chapter in the development of this company which has steadily increased its market presence over the years and has built a strong reputation for quality and innovation. By investing in improved R&D Powershield will also be able to increase its exporting capabilities and further develop its client base.”
