Grocery firm secure McVities contract

Leading grocery sales firm Robt Roberts Ltd has secured an exclusive contract with McVities to distribute its fast growing cake range in Northern Ireland.

The new deal is expected to generate in excess of £1 million in sales over the next two years.

Robt Roberts General Manager, Gareth Bradley said he was delighted with the deal which follows hot on the heels of a recent £600,000 investment in its Northern Ireland operations.

“McVities has a track record of successful innovation and we are sure that we can continue this trend in Northern Ireland with the company’s excellent cake range while giving retailers the opportunity to substantially grow their sales and cash margin,” Mr Bradley said.

Graham Parry, Commercial Director for McVities Cake Company, added: “We are delighted to be working with Robt Roberts as the company has excellent customer relationships and a strong understanding of the market.

“I am confident that the partnership will significantly upweight our presence in Northern Ireland.”

Robt Roberts arrived in Northern Ireland in 1987 when it acquired Old Mill Marketing in Lisburn and is part of DCC plc, a value added sales, marketing and support services group, which currently employs 4,500 worldwide.
