Police warn of drug danger after 'snowball' death

A 26-year-old man has died after allegedly taking an unknown number of ‘snowball’ ecstasy tablets.

Police in Lisburn have warned members of the public to be on the alert for the tablets which carry a ‘Snowball’ motif.

It is understood that the man admitted himself to hospital in Lisburn on Sunday apparently after taking the pills.

A number of other people have been admitted to hospital for treatment after reportedly experiencing symptoms that could include changes to their heart rate, a feeling that they could collapse, drowsiness or a desire to sleep.

Anyone suffering from any of these symptoms is advised to immediately seek medical treatment.

Drugs Seized During Search In South Belfast
Police have seized drugs during a search in the Carryduff area of south Belfast on Tuesday, 13 June. A large amount of white powder, suspected to be a Class A drug, was discovered, as well as a liquid substance and orange powder, believed to be illegal drugs, were also found. The PSNI also seized fake tablets, scales, ampoules and rolls of labels.

'Erratic Behaviour' Reports As Blue Tablets Circulate
Police in Downpatrick suspect multiple reports of "erratic behaviour" in the area may be connected to a batch of unidentified blue tablets in circulation. It's unclear if anyone has came to any harm due to the unknown substances, however anyone who believes they may be experiencing side affects is urged to seek medical help.

Derry Bus Tragedy Averted
Bus passengers in Londonderry had a lucky escape when their bus crashed after a 'snowball prank' went wrong. Derry teenagers rolled a huge snowball in front of a car, causing a bus to crash. Around 30 youths initially targeted passing traffic, including the bus, in the Hazelbank Estate, during a heavy snowfall.

Ecstasy tablets seized in Co Down
Police have seized 27,000 ecstasy tablets in Co Down today. The tablets, which had a street value of approximately £135,000, were found in the Armagh Road area of Newry. The tablets were hidden in a number of items which have been taken away for forensic examination. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
