Teenager left ‘shocked and shaken’ in robbery attempt

A teenage girl has been left “shocked and shaken” after she was assaulted and threatened at knifepoint during an attempted robbery in Co Down on Tuesday.

The incident, which took place at a shop at Balloo Road, Bangor, shortly before 9.15pm, saw two men, both wearing balaclavas and carrying kitchen knives, entering the store and demanding money.

When the young shop assistant was unable to open the cash register the robbers punched her in the back and forcing her over the till before leaving empty handed.

It is understood both men made off on foot towards the Bloomfield Estate.

A short time after the incident two men were arrested in the area and are currently assisting police with their enquiries.

Two knives were also recovered following a subsequently house search also carried out in the Bloomfield Estate.
