Couple escape injury in petrol bomb attack

A couple in their 20’s have escaped injury following a petrol bomb attack on a house in Co Down.

The incident occurred in the Brayside Grove area of Castlereagh at about 2.45am on Wednesday.

The bomb hit the front door of the house and shattered a pane of glass however the couple, who were in the house at the time, were left shaken but uninjured.

Police have taken a number of items away for scientific examination and have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.

Elsewhere, a 17-year-old man has been shot in a paramilitary style attack in Co Down on Tuesday.

The victim was shot in both knees at Carrickmannin Gardens in the Kilcooly Estate, Bangor at around 11.40pm. He is currently being treated in hospital for his injuries.

Police have appealed for anyone who was in the area and may have information to contact them on 028 9145 4444 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
