Care home fire treated as suspicious
Police are treating a fire at a care home in Co Tyrone on Friday as suspicious.
Residents and staff at the home in Cookstown were forced to flee at around 1am when a blaze was spotted close to gas cylinders at the back of the building in Westland Road.
Two rooms sustained extensive damage as a result of the blaze however no one was injured in the incident.
However, a spokesperson for the fire service said someone could have been "seriously injured or killed" as a result of the blaze.
A nearby day centre has been opened to provide the residents with shelter, care home staff have confirmed.

Vaccine Booster Initiative For All NI Care Homes
A Covid-19 vaccine booster initiative is to be rolled-out to all NI's care homes, Health Minister Robin Swann has announced. Health Trust vaccinator teams are bringing the boosters to care home residents and staff in a planned programme. First doses will also be available for anyone who has not yet been vaccinated.

£5m Announced For NI's Care Home Sector
A £5 million support package has been announced to help Northern Ireland's care home sector with rising energy costs. Care homes, like the rest of society, have been dealing with sharply rising energy prices. The £5m funding will be allocated by HSC Trusts on the basis of bed numbers per home.
