Dave Duggan set to tour play
Sole Purpose Productions has announced that a new play by Dave Duggan will tour venues in Derry Londonderry and Belfast in October 2005.
'AH 6905', written and directed by Dave Duggan for Sole Purpose Productions, is a one man one act play in which we meet Daniel, in hospital on the night before he undergoes a major procedure. Tomorrow, he will have the truth cut out of him. The truth of all the death and violence between 1969 and 2005. Part rant, part hospital visit, part ghostly visitation, 'AH 6905' weaves argument, hospital banter and poetry into a searching dramatisation of what truth recovery in a society coming out of conflict might actually mean.
Sole Purpose Productions is a professional company that seeks to bring the discourse of imagination to bear on social and public issues. Dave Duggan's previous work for the company includes 'The Peace Process Trilogy', 'The Recruiting Office' and 'Scenes from an Inquiry'. His latest film 'Tumbleturns' was screened by UTV in August 2005 and RTE Radio 1 broadcast his radio play 'Painting the Loft' in mid-September.
Dave Duggan said: “It’s great to be going into production with another stage play. The support of The Arts Council, National Lottery Funds, The Community Relations Council and Derry City Council has been essential to this. And, as before, after opening in The Playhouse, we’ll take 'AH 6905' to non-theatre venues across Derry Londonderry and Belfast.”
The part of Daniel will be played by Darren Greer, from Eglinton, most recently seen alongside Holly Hunter in By the Bog of Cats by Marina Carr, at Wyndham’s Theatre in The West End.
The production will be hosted by Ballynafeigh Community Development Association and performed in The Errigle Inn on the Ormeau Road on Wednesday 26 October at 8pm.
