Park Centre £2.5m revamp nears completion
Belfast's Park Centre is set to complete the second phase of a £10 million revamp.
The Donegall Road complex, which earlier this year opened a major extension with four key new tenants, will unveil a completely refurbished main mall this month at a cost of some £2.5 million.
The complex, which opened in 1985, is one of Belfast's longest established shopping centres. Centre Manager, Chris Newton, said that the renovations were helping the complex cement its position as a "leading, contemporary shopping centre".
"In March we unveiled a 30,000 sq ft extension which created a platform of space that modern retailers require, with over 75% of the new space being pre-let," he said.
"Refurbishment work has just been completed to the main mall, which will help position the centre as a top, modern retail destination in Belfast.
"The third stage of development work, which will start early in 2006, will see renovations to the remaining parts of the mall that have not yet been refurbished. This will also include external re-cladding and the formation of a new entrance," he added.
The Park Centre, which is on the site of the old Belfast Celtic Football Club, was the third shopping centre to open in Northern Ireland. It sits half a mile from the City Centre, beside the Westlink and M1.
