Telephone MOT booking service launches

A new telephone service has been launched by the Driver and Vehicle Testing Agency aimed at improving booking services for an MOT.

People can now book an MOT for their car and arrange a driving test by telephone thanks to the very latest technology from Northgate Information Solutions.

Stanley Duncan, Chief Executive of the DVTA said: "Customers will benefit from our services being only a phone call away. Application forms could be a thing of the past for many people as the entire booking can be made and paid for by making a single phone call.

"Users no longer have to visit one of our centres and should save time, effort and money in the process. Even when an appointment is not suitable, it can be cancelled or re-booked for an alternative date by making another call to our dedicated booking lines which are open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday - Friday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays."

The call-centre numbers are:
  • MOT - Owners of private cars, motorcycles and light good vehicles can book by calling 0845 247 2471
  • Driving Test - Drivers of private cars and motorcycles can book by calling 0845 247 2472
  • Disabled or hard of hearing drivers can book their driving test and MOT using the DVTA text phone number 0845 247 2474.
Almost 70% of Northern Ireland's car owners visit their local DVTA (Driver & Vehicle Testing Agency) Test Centre to book and pay for their appointments.
