Police investigate blast bomb explosion

Police are investigating a blast bomb explosion in a rural area of Co Antrim on Wednesday.

The device exploded at the junction of Reahill Road and Cullyburn Road in Mossley at about 10.15pm.

No-one was injured and no damage was caused during the incident however the area was closed to traffic as the investigation continued on Thursday morning. A further search of the area is expected to take place later on Thursday.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them on 0845 600 8000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Elsewhere, two teenagers have each had part of an ear bitten off in separate attacks in west Belfast.

In the first incident, a 19-year-old was walking on the Falls Road at about 1.30am on Sunday when he was attacked by three youths, one of whom bit his ear.

Later on Tuesday evening, another 19-year-old was set upon by a group of youths on the Falls Road, and also had his ear bitten.

Police said they were investigating whether the attacks were linked.

Man In Hospital After Dog Attack In Banbridge
A man is receiving hospital treatment after being attacked by a dog in Banbridge, Co Down. At around 10.50am on Monday, 03 October, police received a report that a man had been attacked by a dog in the Lurgan Road area. Officers arrived at the scene and brought the dog under control.
