Prince Philip visits NI on one-day trip

Prince Philip has visited Northern Ireland on a one-day trip in relation to the work of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme.

In the first engagement of the day on Tuesday, the Prince attended a reception at Hillsborough Castle where Gold Award Certificates were presented to 50 young people from across Northern Ireland.

Later in the day, he attended a reception in the Hilton Hotel in Templepatrick hosted by Charter Members and Friends of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme.

Mr Colin Henderson, Deputy Secretary for Northern Ireland Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, give a short presentation on the proposals for celebrating next year’s 50th Anniversary of the scheme.

Following a private lunch, His Royal Highness left the Hilton, bringing his visit to Northern Ireland to an end.

Duke Of Edinburgh Celebrates Hilton Birthday
The Duke of Edinburgh, on the second engagement of a one-day visit to Northern Ireland, was this afternoon the guest of honour at a lunch at the Hilton Hotel in Belfast. The event was for Friends of The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, as well as to mark the 10th anniversary of the Belfast Hilton.
