Four freed in Claudy investigation

Four people arrested in connection with inquiries into an IRA bomb attack in Claudy, Co Londonderry in 1972 have been released without charge.

Police confirmed on Wednesday evening, that all four people, including Sinn Fein MLA Francie Brolly, had been freed and a report was being prepared for submission to the Public Prosecution Service.

Earier this week, Sinn Fein's Chief Negotiator Martin McGuinness hit out at the arrest of Mr Brolly calling it "one of the most blatant examples of political policing seen here in recent times".

Party chairman Mitchel McLaughlin described the arrest as "a political stunt".

The bombing in Claudy when three IRA car bombs exploded, killed nine people, three of whom were children.

Two People Arrested On Suspicion Of People Smuggling
The PSNI have arrested two people in Belfast on suspicion of offences linked to people smuggling. At around 8am on Wednesday morning, immigration officers and some 30 police officers conducted raids on two properties in Annadale Drive and Ravenhill Avenue.

Four People Released Over Under-Car Bomb Attack In L'Derry
Four people arrested over an attempted under-car bomb attack on a police officer have been released unconditionally. The device was placed under a car in Eglinton, L'Derry, on 18 June 2015. Three men, aged 29, 38 and 46, and a 32-year-old woman were arrested in Belfast, L'Derry an Pomeroy, however they have since been released.
