US firm invests £3.2m in Belfast operation
A leading US provider of automated networking solutions is investing £3.2 million in a new Belfast-based R&D operations centre.
Intelliden Inc will employ 35 people at the new operation which is being driven by the firms rapid growth, particularly in the European telecommunications market.
The Belfast-based staff will work alongside the US company’s main development centre in Colorado Springs. The R&D centre is expected to generate more than £1 million annually to the local economy.
Alan Black, Intelliden’s President and CEO, said: “Northern Ireland provides us with the critical elements to support Intelliden’s ongoing growth and commercial momentum. The region has a highly skilled technical workforce, which makes it an ideal fit for our research and development centre.
"From a geographic perspective, Northern Ireland also provides us with an ideal base for serving our European customers."
Intelliden’s software helps to automate large, complex networks and their associated devices, such as those run by communications service providers, large corporations and governments around the world.
IT also enables customers to accelerate the launch of Internet Protocol (IP) services while increasing operational efficiency, improving security and reducing costs.

Dept Of Justice Launches Consultation On Recovery Of Criminal Assets
A new public consultation has been launched by the Department of justice to gather views on the Codes of Practice on the recovery of criminal assets. Updates to two existing codes of practice and one new code of practice are required to take account of new measures under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023.

NI's First Regional Day Procedure Centre Celebrated
The Department of Health has welcomed the success of the Regional Day Procedure Centre at Lagan Valley Hospital, stating that this facility "points the way to how health reform can deliver for patients in Northern Ireland". The facility provides routine surgical procedures for patients from across different Health Trust areas.

Police Investigate Homeless Centre Blaze
Police are investigating suspected arson following a fire at a homeless drop-in centre in west Belfast. Detectives are still trying to work out who began the blaze at the facility, which is run by the Welcome Organisation. The building at St Peter's Square off the lower Falls was destroyed in the blaze at the weekend.
