Polish national remanded on driving charges

A Polish man has been remanded in custody in relation to a series of driving charges.

Adam Piwowarczyk, 25, of no fixed address, was charged with causing death by dangerous driving, causing grievous bodily harm and driving while under the influence of drink or drugs.

The charges relate to a crash near Ballynure on the Larne Road on December 2.

One man, 33-year old Matthew Johnston, was killed and three other people were injured in the collision. One remains critically ill, one seriously ill, and a third has since been released from hospital.

Mr Piwowarczyk was remanded in custody to appear again on January 9.

An investigation has been launched after shots were fired at a house in Rathfriland in the early hours of this morning, Tuesday, 05 March. Man charged over Co Antrim road death
A 39-year-old lorry driver from the Republic has appeared in court this morning to face charges relating to the death of woman in a road collision last weekend. Mary McMullan, 36, of Whitehall View, Ballycastle, was a front-seat passenger in a Honda car that collided with a lorry on the Drones Road, near Ballymoney in Co Antrim, at around 8.

Renewed Appeal For Help Tracing Paula Elliott
The PSNI have issued a fresh appeal for help in tracing the whereabouts of Paula Elliott, who was last seen on Tuesday, 05 March. The 52-year-old was last seen on CCTV cameras leaving the Sprucefield Court area of Lisburn at 5.30pm, before making her way to Warren Gardens at around 5.36pm.
