Prison visits go ahead after security alert

Visits to Magahberry prison are to go ahead today following a security alert on Monday.

A suspect device was found inside the jail yesterday and army bomb experts were called in to investigate. The device is believed to have been found in Erne House, where prisoners serving life sentences reside. However no prisoners were moved during the alert.

The device was later declared a hoax.

This is the latest security warning following a bomb alert last month, which caused major disruption and forced the cancellation of prison visits.
