Armed robbery at Belfast DIY store

Police have appealed for witnesses to an armed robbery at a DIY store at the Kennedy Centre in West Belfast yesterday.

One man, armed with a black handgun approached the security guard who was making a cash delivery to the store and made off with the cash box.

He made off in the direction of Blackstaff Road, where he got into a blue coloured transit van.

It is believed that the security system on the cash box activated expelling red smoke and dye, which would have been visible coming from the van at around 11am.

Police described the suspect as being between 17 and 20-years-old, with short dark hair with a fringe. He was wearing a blue Adidas tracksuit with a white t-shirt.

The cash was recovered from a blue van a short disatnce from the scene.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident are being asked to contact police on 0845 600 8000 or 0800 555 111.

Police Probe Newry Armed Robbery
Police are investigating after a man was held at gunpoint during a robbery in his home in Newry, County Down. Two masked men armed with shotguns entered the premises in Chapel Street at around 9.30 on Monday evening. The men threatened the owner before making off with a substantial sum of cash in a dark coloured car.

'ATM' Robbers Fire Shot
Armed raiders have fired a shot into the air, before making off with a cash box as a delivery was being made at premises in Co Tyrone. An armed and masked man approached a security firm employee as he delivered money at a petrol station on Oaks Road Dungannon, at about 1pm on Monday.

Weekend robberies may be linked
Police have appealed for information following a number of armed robberies at the weekend. In the first incident, a man, armed with a knife, entered a butchers shop on the Springfield Road in west Belfast at around 4pm on Saturday and threatened staff.

Hooded gunman robs ATM cash delivery
Police in south Belfast are appealing for information following an armed robbery at an ATM machine on the Stranmillis Road on Tuesday. Shortly before 2pm, cash delivery drivers were re-filling the machine when a hooded man armed with a handgun approached them.
