Vodafone Ireland Wins Tender To Host Centre Of Excellence

Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Micheál Martin has welcomed the launch of the new Dublin-based Vodafone Centre of Excellence.

The new centre has been specifically designed to increase product innovation within Vodafone Group. By partnering with local innovators, Vodafone plans to co-develop new products and services that can be jointly brought to market and potentially offered to Vodafone’s global customer base of over 179 million. IDA Ireland worked closely with Vodafone Ireland to secure this investment for the Leopardstown operation.

Following an internal competitive tendering process within the Vodafone group worldwide, Vodafone Ireland was selected to host the Centre of Excellence for Personalisation & Storage. Key factors which influenced this included the strong Irish R&D sector and Vodafone Ireland’s proven track-record in introducing product innovation to the Vodafone Group. The centre will have a staff of up to 25 people with technical, commercial and marketing expertise.

Welcoming the Centre of Excellence Minister Martin said: “Vodafone's decision to locate this Centre in Dublin illustrates its commitment and confidence in Ireland and is testament to the skills and knowledge of the Irish workforce, which has been crucial to Vodafone’s success."

The Centre of Excellence for Personalisation & Storage will draw on the existing strong indigenous technology industry in Ireland in order to identify projects that can be jointly developed and marketed globally to Vodafone customers. By partnering with the Centre of Excellence, entrepreneurs can benefit from Vodafone’s in-depth understanding of the marketplace with a view to gaining access to Vodafone’s global customer base.
