Enterprise Ireland make €1m investment in Delta Off-Site Solutions
Minister for Enterprise Trade and Employment, Micheál Martin has announced a €1 million investment from Enterprise Ireland in Delta Off-Site Solutions, Ireland’s leading off-site manufacturer of quality bathroom and kitchen pods.
The indigenous company currently employs 250 full time team members at its facilities in Macroom and Cobh and the company is committed to increasing that number to 365 by January 2007.
Commenting, Minister Martin said: "Delta Off Site Solutions are a prime example of what Irish companies can achieve - rapid growth based on world-class products and investment in research and development. I would like to acknowledge the determination, ambition and leadership of the management team at Delta, who have taken on the challenge of establishing and growing an internationally competitive new business."
The company, which turned over in excess of €17 million last year, has plans to more that double its turnover in 2006 with more than 30 per cent of this volume expected to be derived from export markets.
The company also sources more than 75 per cent of its materials from local and national vendors and has allow several other Irish companies to grow and expand to support Delta’s aggressive growth.

A Co. Down company has signed a multi-million pound deal with a US airline to manufacture airplane seats in a move that could result in at least 100 new jobs for the Irish firm. The deal will see Kilkeel-based Thompson Solutions provide fully reclining seats for US giant Delta Airlines.

M&S Drivers' Strike Looms
It looks likely today that deliveries to Marks and Spencer stores throughout the UK will be hit by a threatened drivers' strike. Some 100 staff at worldwide courier company DHL's centre in Mallusk near Belfast and two depots in England are considering walking out after a pay freeze, the union Unite said.

Derry's Arntz Belting Heads For Trouble
The future for a struggling Pennyburn fan belt factory, which currently employs around 110 people, is looking bleak. The manufacturing plant, Arntz Belting Company, went to a three-day week in December and also sought 28 redundancies in March. However, the global recession has led to the firm's parent company looking at further cuts.

Tipperary Hotel Refusal Hits Job Opportunities
News that the Irish Planning Appeals board has rejected proposals to build a contentious hotel development in Tipperary will disappoint local building contractors. The development, which received strong opposition from locals, was to be built on a Cashel site, formerly owned by the Presentation Sisters.
