Three arrested in connection with Carrickfergus murder

Three men have been arrested for questioning in connection with the murder of a man in Carrickfergus at the weekend.

Thomas Hollran, 49, was found with serious injuries in an alleyway at around 10pm on Saturday and was taken to hospital where he later died from his injuries.

It is understood that he was beaten to death on Saturday evening after returning to the town to visit a family member. He had been ordered to leave Carrickfergus last year following a dispute with loyalist paramilitaries.

Detectives have confirmed that paramilitaries may have been involved in the killing.

Police believe that Mr Hollran travelled by train from Belfast to Clipperstown station in Carrickfergus at around 9.25pm.
