Youth remanded in custody in connection with Lisburn rape

A 16-year-old male has been remanded in custody charged with the rape of a teenage girl in Lisburn almost two weeks ago.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has denied the charges.

The assault allegedly took place in an alleyway off the Moss Road, Harmony Hill in Lisburn at around 9pm on Saturday February 11.

The victim had been socialising with around 40 other young people in the city, and is understood to have become separated from her friends when the attack took place.

A detective constable today told the court that he believed that he could connect the youth to the charge.

The accused was remanded in custody until 28 February.
