Man rescued from blazing flat
A man has been rescued from a burning flat in north Belfast.
The Fire Service was alerted to the blaze at the flat in New Lodge Place around 11pm on Monday.
Firefighters using breathing apparatus discovered the man in the bedroom and he was carried out of the property where he received first aid.
He is being treated for the effects of smoke inhalation.
Neighbours had heard a smoke alarm going off and a spokesperson for the Fire Service said that this had undoubtedly saved the man's life.

Man in serious condition after Portrush fire
A 39-year-old man is in a serious condition in hospital after being injured during a fire at his flat in Portrush. It is understood that the man suffered extensive burns to his lower body and was treated for the effects of smoke inhalation.

Police rescue man from flat fire
A 40-year-old man has been taken to hospital following a fire at a flat in Magherafelt. The alarm was raised shortly after 10pm on Thursday when a fire was spotted inside the flat at Queen Street. When police arrived at the scene an officer spotted smoke coming from under the door.

Man Rescued From Warrenpoint Flat Fire
A man has been rescued from a fire at his flat in Warrenpoint, County Down. The blaze started in the kitchen of the flat at the Promenade Apartments at Osbourne Promenade at around 2.00am on Friday. Group commander Alastair Rooney said that the fire alarm in the flat was not working, which led to the man not getting an early warning.
