Jobs Go On Closure Of Boots' Belfast Warehouse
Around 50 jobs are to be lost following the closure of the Boots retail warehouse in Belfast.
Today, the company has revealed that over the next three years, approximately 2,250 jobs are to be cut from its supply chain operations throughout the UK.
It is understood that a new automated warehouse in Nottingham will enable the high street giant to replace 17 older sites with smaller lorry-docking facilities.
A spokesman for Boots, today said that the job cuts in Belfast were regrettable, but necessary.
He added that the three-year period of implementation means that there is a good opportunity to minimise redundancies through natural wastage and in addition, Boots will work with its employees to mitigate the impact of the modernisation programme.
Where possible Boots will seek to re-deploy, relocate and re-skill to reduce the number of redundancies.

Offshore Company Axes Jobs
Around 150 jobs in Aberdeen and Dundee have been axed after an offshore services company ceased trading. Oceanteam Power and Umbilical has been forced to close when the firm's holding company withdrew its financial support. Staff are based in Aberdeen, at workshops in Dundee and offshore.
