Herd of cows stolen in Maghera
Police in County Londonderry have appealed for information following the theft of a herd of cattle.
It is understood that 28 Friesian cows were taken from farm buildings on the Brackareilly Road, near Maghera sometime between 8am on Wednesday and 2pm on Thursday.
Police were informed of the robbery yesterday afternoon.
Anyone who may have witnessed the theft or know the whereabouts of the animals, should contact detectives in Maghera on 0845 600 8000, or anonymously on the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.

Man Arrested In Connection With Fuel Theft
A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of diesel theft from a property in the Ballymagorry area of Strabane last night, Tuesday, 11th October. The arrest followed the report of alleged diesel theft from an address on Ballyheather Road shortly after 10pm where a red Berlingo van was also found at the address and abandoned.

Man Dies After Falling From Police Van
A man has died after falling from the back of a moving police van, in Maghera last Friday. The 21-year-old was in police custody when the incident happened on the Church Road in Derry. A PSNI spokesman confirmed the man had died while the vehicle was still in motion.

Attacks on Orange halls investigated
Police are examining what they believe are three possibly linked attacks on Orange halls in County Londonderry. The three halls, at Drumollish outside Maghera, Tamlaght near Portglenone and Killygullib near Kilrea, all had slogans painted on walls, and two had windows damaged and flags removed.

Two police officers were injured and a man arrested after a police vehicle was deliberately rammed in the Maghera area on Tuesday, 18 November 2025. At approximately 10.20pm, police received a report of a van being driven at speed and swerving dangerously on the Glenshane Pass.

Investigation Launches After Device Explodes In Maghera
Police have launched an investigation following an explosion outside a vacant property in the Mullagh Park area of Maghera, County L'Derry. Officers responded around midnight on Thursday (7 August) after receiving reports of a loud bang in the area. On arrival, they discovered that a device had detonated outside an unoccupied house.
