Lisburn fire may have been started deliberately

Police in County Antrim are investigating the cause of a fire in a building in the Castle Gardens area of Lisburn in the early hours of this morning.

Police and Fire services were alerted to the blaze at the Old Technical College in the city at around 3am.

It is understood that the roof of the building collapsed during the inferno, however no one was injured during the incident.

Police have sealed off the area for examination.

A spokesperson for the fire service has today said that at this stage it is thought that the fire may have been started deliberately.

He added that there had been reports that youths had been seen in the vicinity before the blaze started.
