Three arrested in connection with armed robbery

Three men have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery of a security van in County Down yesterday morning.

Police have said that a man, dressed in a fluorescent jacket and armed with a knife, approached the security guard while he was making a delivery to a grocery store on the Hill Street area of Newry, just before 10am. The cash box was snatched from the guard's hand.

The robber then made off in a silver coloured car, which was driven by a second person.

The car was later found abandoned in the Craigmore Road area of the town and the stolen cash box was also recovered.

A short time later, police stopped a car and arrested three men aged 27, 28 and 32 in connection with the robbery.

The men have been charged with armed robbery, handling stolen goods and going equipped and will appear in Newry Magistrates Court later today.

Man Wanted In Lithuania Arrested In Magherafelt
The PSNI have arrested a 23-year-old man in Magherafelt wanted in Lithuania to face charges of human trafficking. The man was arrested by officers from the Police Service's local policing team in Magherafelt, with assistance from the International Policing Unit. He is expected appear before extradition court in Belfast later today.

15-Year-Old Arrested Following Stabbing In Lisburn
A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the stabbing of a 14-year-old in the Knockmore Road area of Lisburn last night, Monday 25th March. Police have said that at approximately 7.40pm on Monday 25 March, a 14-year-old boy had been approached by a group of teenagers, before being stabbed in the lower back.

Two Men Arrested In £500,000 Drug Seiure In South Belfast
Two men have been arrested in connection with a £500,000 drug seizure following searches in South Belfast. On Friday, 01 March, detectives from the PSNI's Organised Crime Branch stopped and searched two vehicles in the Lisburn Road area. Class B controlled drugs were recovered from both vehicles which were also subsequently seized.

Man Arrested In Connection With Ballymena Drug Seizure
A man has been arrested and suspected Class A and B drugs worth an estimated £90,000 seized in a Paramilitary Crime Task Force operation in Ballymena on Saturday, 10 February.
