Police return to Garnerville College after gas alert
Officers and staff at the Garnerville Police Training College in east Belfast have been allowed to return to the building.
The premises was evacuated just before 12pm today, following reports of a suspected gas leak.
The Fire and Rescue Service was tasked to the area with two pumping appliances and a vehicle to deal with chemical incidents, and immediately evacuated the area.
No one was injured during the alert and no damage was caused to the building.

Major Gas Leak In Co Antrim
A number of homes had to be evacuated following a major gas leak in Co Antrim. The incident happened in the Stiles Way area at around 10pm on Thursday, 30 March. The Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) attended the scene and local residents were advised to stay indoors and keep all their windows and doors closed.

Gas Storage To Be Built Under Lough
A £440m gas storage facility is to be built a mile underneath Larne Lough. The development will enable 500m cubic metres of natural gas to be stored in caverns underneath the lough. The new bank will be able to hold enough gas to provide energy for Northern Ireland for sixty days.

Business destroyed & homes evacuated as bonfire ruptures gas pipeline
An eleventh night bonfire in east Belfast ruptured a gas pipeline on Monday night, causing more than thirty homes to be evacuated and destroying a 3-storey commercial building, including a Chinese takeaway. The destroyed building was in Dromore Street off Cregagh Road, and no-one was injured in the incident.

Police have declared a device at the centre of a security alert in Loughguile, County Antrim on Sunday morning as a "small but viable pipe bomb". Police received a report of a suspicious object in Tullyviewm off the Corkey Road at about 8:50am on Sunday 16 January.
