Voting underway in County Down by-election

Voting in the by-election for Newry and Mourne council has today got underway in County Down.

There are two candidates competing for the seat, which became available after the resignation of Sinn Fein councillor Brendan Lewis, who stepped down six weeks ago.

Sinn Fein's Turlough Murphy is standing against victims' campaigner William Frazer in the hope to win the seat in the Fews district, which includes areas such as Newtownhamilton, Camlough, Bessbrook and Donaghmore.

Polling centres will be open until 10pm this evening, and the results are due to be announced on Thursday.
