Stream appoint General Manager for UK and Ireland

Stream International has announced that Sean Canning has been promoted to General Manager at the company’s Londonderry facility.

Canning joined Stream in January 2000 as a service delivery manager, responsible for the contact centre operations of a major client account. Canning replaces Kevin Houston who has joined HCL Technologies.

In his capacity as General Manager UK and Ireland, Canning will manage the operations and concentrate on business development and customer relationships.

“I am delighted to be given this opportunity,” said Canning. “I believe my experience in contact centre operations management, both at Stream and at British Telecom, will enable me to make a significant contribution to the development of the UK and Ireland business”.

“We feel fortunate to have Sean as the new general manager for Stream UK and Ireland,” said Harry Lammersen, Stream’s vice president Europe Operations and Quality.

“His experience and his leadership will inspire the UK and Ireland management team to ensure the service provided by our Londonderry site exceeds Stream’s client requirements. We are confident his contribution to the European management team will also strengthen the European SGS-Stream group as a whole.”

Stream International, a Solectron company, opened the Londonderry facility in January 1996 and is one of the largest employers in the city.

Stream Londonderry became the first company in Europe to be awarded the globally recognized quality standard for Technical Support – the Support Centre Practices Certification.

In April 2001 and April 2002, the company was awarded the CRM Industry Award – Best Project of the Year – Small to Medium Sized Enterprise.

In 2001 and 2002 the company was also awarded the coveted ‘European Call Centre of the Year' award.
