Man charged over city attack

A 22-year-old man is due to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court tomorrow, charged with attempted murder and obstruction.

The charge is connected to the serious assault on a man in in the Connsbrooke Avenue area of the city shortly before 12.40am on Tuesday morning.

Earlier today, three men who were also arrested in connection with the attack were released pending police reports.

The victim, who has not yet been named, was taken to the Royal Victoria hospital in Belfast, where he remains in a "critical condition."

It is understood the victim, who is not from the area, had attended a party at a house in the street after a night out in the city centre.
