CCEA set up exam helpline

Northern Ireland’s exams body, the Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA), has set up a special helpline service to support anxious students and parents awaiting GCE, GCSE and A and AS Level exam results, which are due to be released over the next few weeks.

Martin Quinn, Examinations Administration Manager at CCEA today said: “We recognise that this can be a stressful time for anyone receiving exam results. A dedicated team will be on hand to offer teachers, students and their families information, advice and support on a range of issues.

“To compliment the examinations helpline we have developed a Frequently Asked Questions on-line tool. This aims to provide information to those who may be worried or confused about their exam results quickly and out of office hours.”

He continued: “This also explains more about CCEA’s unique accelerated re-marking service for GCE students. Students concerned about their result will be able to have their scripts re-marked, if they wish, and a reply provided by September 10. This is particularly helpful for those who are hoping for university or college places.

“We’ll do our best to answer any query and if we can’t, we’ll do our best to put callers in touch with someone who can. In the meantime I’d like to congratulate this year’s GCSE, AS and A level students on their efforts and wish them good luck with their examination results.”

A and AS Level results will be issued on Thursday August 17 2006, while CCEA GCSE Results will be issued on August 22.

Students who have taken GCSE examinations with exam boards in England and Wales will receive their GCSE results on August 24.

The helpline will be in operation from Wednesday August 16, from 9am until 5pm, on week days until Wednesday August 30.

Anyone with any queries regarding CCEA’s examination results can call 028 9026 1260, email helpline@ccea.org.uk or log onto the CCEA website www.ccea.org.uk to search for answers from the Frequently Asked Questions section.
