Second man confesses to pensioner's manslaughter
A second man has confessed to the killing of a pensioner in Belfast in April 2001.
Michael Anthony McDonnell, 23, from Delhi Street in Belfast, pleaded guilty today to the manslaughter of 68-year-old Lawrence Flanagan.
This followed last Friday's guilty plea by David Albert Taggart, 23, from Riga Street in Belfast.
During the two-week trial the court heard how Mr Flanagan, a former Ulster Museum curator, had been beaten and bound with telephone cable and died from massive bleeding on his brain.
Both men originally admitted a charge of burglary when they were brought before court last month.
The trial is set to continue.

Brothers Win Trial Appeal Over Missing Millions
Two brothers whose building empire collapsed in the financial crash have won the right to a full trial appeal over millions of pounds Ulster Bank is trying to claim from them. Michael and John Taggart borrowed the sums for Taggart Holdings Ltd in Northern Ireland and Taggart Homes Ireland Ltd in the Republic.

Guilty Plea On Pensioner's Violent Killing
The man responsible for a pensioner's violent death has been jailed. Tilly Campbell, 77, was found at her home at Barnagh Park in the seaside town of Donaghadee, in October 2006. Firefighters called to the scene following reports of a fire discovered the victim's body at the scene.

Burglar 'Guilty' Over Guest House Killing
Last year's shock killing of a well known Bangor businessman has seen a self-confessed teenage killer jailed for life. James William McCoy, 21, entered a guilty plea as his trial at Downpatrick Crown Court was about to begin yesterday over the murder of the Co Down guesthouse owner 18 months ago.
