Strabane attracts Swedish enterprise conference
Strabane is set to host a high-profile business conference from the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise this May.
The three-day conference was secured following a visit by Strabane Chamber of Commerce delegates to Malmo, Sweden, to promote the north as an area for investment and tourism.
Up to 75 top regional managers and officials are expected to attend the conference from six different regions in the south of Sweden.
Strabane Chamber of Commerce will deliver a presentation on Northern Ireland's investment opportunities, associated labour costs and the euro. Invest NI will also make a presentation.
Donna Mahon, Project Manager for the Chamber said: "This is a major achievement, and we are both proud and excited that the Confederation has chosen Strabane to hold their most prestigious annual business conference.
"We are really looking forward to receiving this high-powered delegation and to showing them what Strabane, the North West and indeed the whole of Northern Ireland has to offer."
Kent Ahlcrona, Managing Director of the Malmoe Enterprise Agency in Sweden, said: "I would like to congratulate the Chamber delegation in attracting such major players to their area, and wish them luck. It was not so long ago that Strabane and Northern Ireland were totally unknown here in Sweden but since meeting back in September of 2002, we have discovered that we are so much alike."
The Confederation of Swedish Enterprise is a powerful entity in Sweden and has 48 member associations and represents a total of 57,000 member companies, employing more than 1.5 million people.
