Three men injured in separate paramilitary-style attacks

Three men have been involved in separate paramilitary style attacks last night.

In Co Down a man was shot in the lower leg in the Abbot Drive area of Newtownards.

Strangford Ulster Unionist assembly member Tom Hamilton condemned the shooting in Newtownards. He said: “This type of activity is repugnant and serves no purpose other than to inflict pain and distress. People who engage in this type of practice are living in the dark ages of an era the vast majority of right-thinking people have spurned."

Mr Hamilton appealed for anyone with information on the incident to come forward to the police.

Meanwhile, a man was treated for gun shot wounds to his elbows and ankles after being shot in the Creggan area of Crossmaglen.

Elsewhere, in Belfast a 19-year-old was beaten around the legs and head at a house in the north of the city. Four masked men entered the house in the UDA stronghold of Rathcoole and proceeded to beat the teenager with baseball bats.

A man has been hospitalised following a shooting in north Belfast. Police are probing the paramilitary style incident in the Ardoyne area last night, Wednesday 21 August. The victim, a man in his forties, was shot in both legs. He is believed to be in stable condition today.

Man Shot In Legs In Co Armagh
A man has been shot in both legs in Co Armagh. A group of men forced their way into a house in the Meadowbank area of Craigavon and dragged the victim outside and shot him in both legs. The incident happened on Thursday night. The 26-year-old man has is being treated in hospital. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Probe As Man Stabbed In Co Antrim
Police have launched an investigation after a man was stabbed in Ballymena on Sunday evening, 11 August. The serious assault happened in the County Antrim town's Moat Bar at around 7pm. No further details on the victim's condition have been released as yet.

Man shot dead in Newtownards
A father of two has died following a shooting incident in Co Down on Wednesday. He has been named as Andrew Cully from North Street in Greyabbey. The incident occurred in the loyalist West Winds estate in Newtownards at around 8pm on Wednesday.
