Pipe bomb made safe in west Belfast

Army bomb experts have made safe a pipe bomb found on the top of Woodbourne police station in west Belfast.

The device was discovered at around 11am on Wednesday, however police are still trying to establish when it was thrown.

The find follows a blast bomb attack on Antrim Road police station in the north of the city.

Dissident republican group the Continuity IRA later claimed responsibility for this attack.

CIRA behind nail bomb attack on police station
The Continuity IRA (CIRA) has admitted that it carried out the nail bomb attack on a police station in north Belfast last night. At around 9.45pm, two devices were thrown over the perimeter fence of Antrim Road police station – one exploded and caused superficial damage, the other failed to detonate.

Woodburn Police Pipe Bomb Condemned
A local political reprehensive has slammed those behind an attempted bomb attack at a police station over the past weekend. Sinn Féin MLA for West Belfast Sue Ramsey has stated that those behind a pipe bomb attack on Woodburn PSNI station continue to endanger the local community.
