Shankill Road man beaten and run over twice

A man has been attacked while walking his dog on the Shankill Road this morning.

The 53-year-old suffered injuries to his head, two broken ribs and five stitches to his ankles during an assault by two men.

The pair carried out the assault before they got back into a car and drove over the victim – before reversing back over him.

Police believe the attack, which occurred close to West Kirk Church at around 3.45am, was neither sectarian nor paramilitary related.

The PSNI have appealed for anyone with information on the incident to contact them at Antrim Road police station.
