Adams seeks additional Assembly funding
Tony Blair has had a post-St Andrews meeting with Sinn Fein President Gerry Adams.
It is understood that the London meeting involved discussions about the finance package for the province covered in the joint ministerial document published following the three days of talks at St. Andrews in Scotland last week.
The Press Association reports that Mr Adams has pressed the governments to pledge £1bn to help support the power-sharing Assembly.
Local politicians are to meet on Tuesday October 17 in the first of a proposed round of preparing for power-sharing committee sessions.
Mr Adams said one of the issues raised at his meeting with Mr Blair was that of chronic underfunding for infrastructure in the province.
He said that a major economic investment was required to make up the deficit.
Northern Ireland Secretary of State Peter Hain is to make a statement to the House of Commons today on the progress achieved at St Andrews.
