Man released over pensioner's murder

A man arrested earlier today by police investigating the murder of a County Down pensioner has been released without charge.

A woman who was also arrested this morning, remains in police custody and is currently assisting police with their inquiries.

The pair, were arrested in connection with the death of 77-year-old Tilly Campbell who was found dead at her home in the Barnagh Park area of Donaghadee on October 9.

Mrs Campbell's body was discovered by fire-fighters who had been called to the scene after receiving reports of a fire at the property.

Last week, a man appeared in court charged with the murder.

Man Released On Bail Over Lurgan Murder
A man arrested in connection with a murder in Lurgan on Sunday, 06 August, has been released on bail pending further enquiries. The body of a man, aged 45, was discovered at a flat on Victoria Street. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Portrush Stab Accused Faces Attempted Murder Charge
An attempted murder charge has followed a serious incident in Portrush when a 19-year-old man was taken to hospital after being attacked. He was stabbed a number of times during the incident in the Crocknamack Street area on Saturday night.
