Hunt for clues continues in murder inquiry

Police are continuing to hunt for further clues into the murder of a woman in Broughshane, Co Antrim, yesterday.

A man is currently helping police with their inquiries after the woman, named as mother-of-two, Catrina Baird, was found dead in the courtyard of a country house in Buckna Road. She had suffered a gunshot wound to the head.

It is believed that the man being questioned is a civilian employee of the PSNI. He is understood to have voluntarily contacted police.

The 40-year-old woman worked at the home as a nanny and housekeeper. It is not known if any members of the homeowner's family were on the property at the time of the shooting.

The police have placed a cordon around the scene and forensic scientists are carrying out a search of the area.
