Irish diplomat returns to NI
An Irish government official has returned to work in Northern Ireland after a death threat has apparently been lifted.
Áine de Baroid, who works for the Department of Foreign Affairs, had been working in Belfast when the PSNI said they had information indicating that there was a credible threat to her life from loyalist paramilitaries.
However, security sources now say that they are satisfied that this threat has been lifted.
Ms de Baroid had been working on outreach projects in both loyalist and nationalist communities in Belfast.
Following escalating tensions in loyalist areas earlier this year, the PSNI had advised that they thought there was a threat against Ms de Baroid and in August she was transferred to other duties in Dublin.

The PSNI have issued an appeal for information and witnesses after a child was struck by a car in west Belfast on the morning of Monday, 29 April. A six-year-old boy was struck by a car at the junction of Tennent Street and Shankill Road at around 8.55am.
