Leading loyalist found guilty of Portadown murder
A leading member of the LVF has today been found guilty of the murder of Portadown grandmother Elizabeth O'Neill.
William James Fulton, 38, from the Queen's Walk area of Portadown, faced a total of 62 terrorist-related offences when he appeared at Belfast Crown Court earlier today.
Fulton could face a possible three life sentences for the murder of Mrs O'Neill and for conspiracy to murder.
Elizabeth O'Neill died after picking up a bomb which was thrown through the window of her home in June 1999.
During today's hearing, Fulton was also found guilty of seven counts of attempted murder, directing terrorism and membership of the LVF.
He was also found guilty of the possession of a gun which was used in the murder of Catholic taxi driver Michael McGoldrick in 1996.
The trial of Jim Fulton, an his co-accused Muriel Gibson, 56, from Cornwall, was the longest running trial in Northern Ireland's legal history, taking six months for the judge to reach his verdict.
Today, Gibson was acquitted of murdering Catholic council worker, Adrian Lamph in April 1998 but convicted of withholding information leading to the arrests of his killers.
She was also found guilty of LVF membership, possession of firearms and possession of explosives. She will be sentenced next year.
Fulton has been sentenced to life imprisonment.

A 41-year-old man has been extradited from Poland to Northern Ireland to stand trial for a number of offences, including the cultivation of cannabis. According to the PSNI, the man is accused of committing a number of offences in the Maghera, Coleraine and Kilrea areas in October 2019.

Over 660 Motorists Found Speeding Over Easter Bank Holidays
More than 660 motorists were caught breaking the speed limit across the Causeway Coast and Glens during the Easter bank holiday weekend – an increase of 22% from 2022. Chief Inspector Sinead McIldowney said: "The Safety Camera Vans were deployed at various locations across the North Coast and the increase in these detections is a worrying trend.

Two Arrested In Connection With West Belfast Stabbing
A man and a woman have been arrested in connection with a serious stabbing incident in west Belfast in the early hours of this morning, Wednesday, 10 April. Just after 2.45am, police received a report from our colleagues in northern Ireland Ambulance Service that a man had been stabbed in the St Bernadette's Avenue area.
